Spanish Pointe Restaurant and Pub is at 135 Bayview Drive, Osprey, right off U.S. 41.
There’s an adjacent indoor dining room and bar but the real action takes place under the large, thatched roof of the open air and pet friendly tiki hut.
Meet bartender Rob Kirby.
Spanish Pointe’s signature drinks include beach bar standards like the mojito, mai tai and rum runner plus more creative cocktails such as the Pirates Booty. Personally, I would never order a Pirates Booty. But that’s just me.
The Spanish Pointe Southern Classic ($8) is a margarita made with 1800 Silver Tequila, Southern Comfort and mango puree.
My amazing wife Kristin orders the comelier but less potent Passion Pointe ($10). A combination of Absolut Vodka and a dash of sparkling wine, it’s sweetened with passion puree, lemon and lime juice then garnished with a fresh stem of rosemary.
Kristin goes with the basket of Thai shrimp ($13). Her shrimp smack of freshness and are smothered in a rich, pleasingly spicy Thai sauce.
I order the heart-stopping burger with blue cheese and bacon that comes bolstered with fries, pickle and slaw, all for 12 bucks.
If our Tucker ever finds a car that accommodates French bulldogs, he will likely become quite the ladies’ man and a regular at Spanish Pointe Restaurant and Pub.
If you live in South Sarasota County, chances are, you already know and love Spanish Pointe’s tiki bar. Otherwise, plan a visit. It’s a charming oasis of Old Florida that we – yes, Tucker, too – highly recommend.
