Review of The Breakfeast House on S.Tamiami. Wife ordered eggs benedict with extra sauce. I had biscuits and gravy with potatoes. Asked for water, had to ask another server for water. Benedict egss were hard and the sauce was cold(not lukewarm) Potatoes had to much pepper on them, along with to much pepper with the biscuits and gravy. Owner came over to explain that the sauce should be luke warm or it would turn into scrambled eggs.(?) Explained that her sauce was highly recommended by some food critic. so want. She was very nice and bought my wife's breakfast. but not the extra sauce. Might have mentioned that coffee was only $1 a cup. Next time try Millies for a very good Benedicts.

This for Ashton Goggans: Just finished reading this weeks Cheap Eats about the great burger hunt! Since moving to this area from the FL east coast in 2004, I have been on a personal hunt, so far not too successfully, for a great cheese steak sandwich! If you haven't done this in the past, I would be most greatful, and if you have, sorry I missed it! Or any suggestions you may have based on your experiences. And I've also found that a great cheese steak is made even more so by a great beer selection. Any suggestions?
Also, about the burger hunt: on the bypass in Venice behind the Bonefish Grill is Norma Jean's (also in north Englewood)that have consistently great burgers and reasonable prices, and friendly staff. And if you're a Moose member, the Venice lodge does an excellent Mooseburger for Thursday lunch.
