Sarasota bands at Tropical Heatwave

Sure, Tampa-based community radio station WMNF (88.5)'s Tropical Heatwave music festival in Ybor City features another killer lineup of national headliners like poetic pub-rockers The Hold Steady and alt-country favorite Hayes Carll but there are also some great local acts at the the 33rd annual event.

Sarasota is being represented by folky indie pop duo Good Graeff (7:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday, New World Brewery); jam band Come Back Alice (8:10-9:20 p.m. Saturday at Carmine's Courtyard) and psych-rock band Sons of Hippies,which close the Cuban Club Cantina stage with a performance scheduled to start just past midnight and last until 1:10 a.m.

Funk-bluegrass outfit The AppleButter Express, which is based in Tampa but formed in Bradenton, performs 6:20-7:20 p.m. Friday at New World Brewery.
