A great way to survey Manatee County's many commendable dining destination spots in a single afternoon, the 4th annual Food and Wine on Pine event returns Saturday to Anna Maria Island. The culinary portion of the event features 25 of the area’s locally-owned and independent restaurants showcasing fresh, local Florida foods. In addition, culinary students from Southeast High School and Manatee Technical Institute will also serve their creations. More than 30 wines and a variety of craft beers will be available to complement the dishes.

In addition to food and wine, the event includes local artists displaying their work in a variety of mediums, a children’s art and activity area, street performers, musical acts and actors dressed in period costumes telling tales of Anna Maria’s storied past. New this year is a Kentucky Derby tent, dubbed “Pine Avenue Downs,” which will televise the Derby races and offer chance “betting” with prizes and themed Derby activities, including Derby drinks, a hat contest sponsored by Relish Café and Market Place and more.
