Big Storm Brewing rolling out in Sarasota-Manatee

/

Big Storm Nite SR64Pasco County's first and only craft brewery, Big Storm Brewing Co., is coming to more bars and restaurants in Sarasota and Manatee counties.

The Odessa brewery, which opened in 2012, will now be available in about 10 to 15 places here, Big Storm co-founder Clay Yarn said in a phone interview today. A couple of spots have been serving Big Storm's brews for a few months, he said. Now the brewery is going into wider release.

“I am so excited to have our beers to share in bars and restaurants in Sarasota and Bradenton,” Yarn said. He said the brewery always wanted to have their beers in our area, but didn't have the capacity until now. "We're going to be a presence in your back yard," he said.

"We are very excited to have Big Storm in our portfolio," Devyn Dugger, sales director with Gold Coast Eagle (Big Storm's local distribution partner), wrote in an email. "We’ve been trying to get their beer for a couple years.  Thankfully, they expanded and we were able to start a partnership."

Big Storm's beers are draft only, Yarn said, though the brewery would like to can them in the future.

In related news, Gecko's Grill & Pub (4310 State Road 64 E., Bradenton) will be having a Big Storm night at 5 p.m. April 14. Yarn will be there with four Big Storm beers (Palmbender Pale Ale, Wavemaker Amber, Arcus IPA and a special release) and Gecko's will serve $5 burgers and have giveaways and sampler specials.

You can make reservations, which are suggested, by calling the restaurant at (941) 744-2664.
