"American Idol" continues to heat up this season and for the first time since Syesha Mercado reached the finals in 2008, Sarasota-Manatee has a local singer to get fired up about thanks to Bradenton's Sam Woolf. On Tuesday, we only saw him for about a second or two during the opening montage and then, nothing. But don't worry, the 17-year-old student at Braden River High School could still be the next "American Idol."

Sam Woolf Twitter photoTuesday was ladies' night on Fox's popular reality-singing competition series. The Top 15 remaining female contestants attempted to impress the judges — Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr.  — during the first night of the new, three-night "Idol" event, “Rush Week.” TV viewers could vote, too, via their phones.

But Wednesday, on the episode airing from 8 to 10 p.m., the 15 remaining male contestants take the stage live on the second night of “Rush Week.” On the third and final night of “Rush Week,” Thursday (8-9 p.m.), the Top 13 Finalists will be revealed in the first results show live from Los Angeles. Watch to see if Woolf, who wowed the judges last week with a performance of his original song "I Try," makes the cut. By the way, we are now all part of the Woolf Pack.
