Cortez Commercial Fishing Festival HT 2013

Copious amounts of seafood and beer are consumed annually at the Cortez Commercial Fishing Festival taking place again Saturday and Sunday (Feb. 15-16) in West Bradenton. HERALD-TRIBUNE ARCHIVES / 2013

For the 32nd year, the charming, Old Florida village along north Sarasota Bay will welcome thousands of guests to its annual. Cortez Commercial Fishing Festival, a celebration of the village's commercial fishing industry and maritime heritage. There will be a large variety of seafood plus choices for land-lovers, much beer flowing and  lots of live music. Marine life talks and displays, arts and crafts as well as children activities are also part of the festivities. All Festival proceeds go to expansion and restoration of the FISH Preserve (environmentally sensitive land along Sarasota Bay). A cause endorsed by famed ocean explorer Jean-Michel Cousteau.
