Once again this year, I'm working with the Asolo Repertory Theatre's Education and Outreach Department for its annual Student Journalism Program for high school students.
Participants will get a behind-the-scenes look at the theater's operations and learn about arts reporting. I'll be working with Asolo Rep staff and supervising the students in writing reviews and one preview story about some of the productions in the Asolo Rep's season.
Some past participants have wound up with internships in the Herald-Tribune's features departments.
Theater tickets are provided for the students and a guest. The program provides a good opportunity for both potential journalists and theater artists to learn more about both sides of the business.
