Jamrocks, the top destination spot in Bradenton for Jamaican cuisine before it closed in February, has returned as a  food truck. The rolling version of Jamrocks started operating Friday and its primary location is at 39th Avenue West and Manatee Avenue, behind the CVS store in West Bradenton but the truck will be moving occasionally. Daily updates as to the truck's whereabouts will be posted on the "Jamrocks Jamaican food truck" Facebook page. Hours of operation are 11:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

"Myself and David Simms, a native Jamaican from Ocho Rios Jamaica, are operating partners in the business and he is also the original chef at Jamrocks Jamaican Grill restaurant so the customers will be getting the same great food as they did at our restaurant," Sandra Leedy says.

Jamrocks has new menu items and continues to serve its Jamaican favorites such as Jerk Chicken, Curry Chicken, Oxtails, Ackee and Saltfish (Jamaican National Dish). For those not wanting to experiment, they still offer burgers, wraps and salads. There will also be covered seating for those who wish to hang out and have some Jamaican food while listening to reggae music in the background.  In the future, Jamrocks plans on participating in numerous festivals and events.

"We have only been open for three days so far but are seeing a lot of new faces that are returning each day saying they absolutely love our food and will be visiting us often," Leedy says. "We would love to welcome back our Jamrocks customers and will be offering our rewards card soon which earns them points at every visit for future purchases. David and I are really excited about this new business adventure."

Rodney Williams, the ex-husband and former business partner of Sandra Leedy, opened  Jamaica Breeze Restaurant & Lounge in July at 420 67th St. W., Bradenton.
