The third-year students in the FSU/Asolo Conservatory have been traveling around the state with two productions of "Romeo & Juliet," and before the tours end, there will be two more public performances in Sarasota.
At 5:30 p.m. today, one cast (Team Capulet) will perform at the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, 1845 34th St., Sarasota. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no charge for the performance and reservations are not required. Benjamin Williamson plays Romeo opposite Kristen Lynne Blossom as Juliet, with four other actors playing the other roles.
The other cast, billed as Team Montague, performs outdoors at the Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center, at 8 p.m. Nov. 8, 525 Kumquat Court, Sarasota. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. For more information: sarasotapeacecenter.org. Lucy Lavely plays Juliet and Jefferson McDonald is Romeo, with three other actors playing all the other characters.
Lauryn E. Sasso and director Dmitry Troyanovsky adapted William Shakespeare's play into a roughly 45-minute version with a focus on the choices made by the two young lovers. Performances are followed by a brief discussion with the audience.
