The 13th annual “Empty Bowls” luncheons feature area restaurants, local businesses and talented potters contributing to raise funds for The Food Bank of Manatee. Tickets include a unique ceramic bowl to keep, a selection of soups, fresh bread from Publix, and a Grandma’s Goodies cookie.
The simple meal of soup and bread is symbolic of the hunger struggle in the Bradenton area with the event serving as a way to help restock the shelves, which have been very bare in recent months.
This year’s participating restaurants include MacAllister’s Restaurant, Polo Grill & Fete Catering, Woody’s River Roo and numerous others. Art Center Manatee, Main Street at Lakewood Ranch and METV are also participating.
