Half Shell Oyster House is on the move

fwfront04 half shellThe Half Shell Oyster House on Main is on the move with a new location, new name and additions to the menu. Proprietor Dino Mirando has renamed the Mississippi-based establishment Half Shell Seafood House and is currently renovating the space that was formerly Red Elephant Pizza (5231 University Parkway, University Park Center, 952-9400, halfshelloysterhouse.com).

Customers will be greeted with oyster shucking and seating for 175 inside and out. A New Orleans theme and a new bar are expected to be completed in October, according to Manager Jamie Jackson. “We’ll be serving New Orleans-style food (plus pasta and steaks) with an emphasis on fresh fish and seafood. The staff members are excited about the move.”

The Half Shell Seafood House will retain many of the most popular dishes – the char-broiled oysters, fried green tomato crab cakes, Po Boys, shrimp & grits, gumbo – but will be adding lobster, snow and king crab, among other dishes.

Half Shell Seafood House will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and on Sundays, a Sunday Brunch beginning at 11; dinners until 9 p.m.
