Manatee Playreading Festival — Actors will showcase three original plays by local playwrights at the Manatee Playreading Festival, beginning this week. The plays will be presented in a semi-staged reading format, held at Manatee School for the Arts, 700 Haben Blvd., Palmetto. The plays will run three consecutive weekends on Friday and Saturday evenings, starting at 7:30 p.m. Each performance will include an audience talk back afterward. A donation of $5 is suggested. The playwrights are residents of or began their careers in Manatee County, and will be presenting works that have not been previously produced.
