The theme for the 57th Annual Englewood Pioneer Days, one of the most beloved local celebrations, is "Englewood Goes Hollywood."
Here are highlights:
Cardboard Boat Races
When: 9 a.m. Saturday
Where: Indian Mound Park
Teams will race in cardboard rafts for top honors in this year's contest. Teams will be divided into three age categories: 10 and younger; 10 through 15; and 15 and older.Event co-chair Jean Airey said to bring your own chair, as limited seating is available at the park.
Teams must submit an application, which can be found HERE.
When: 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.Saturday
Where: Elks Lounge
Adults will be treated to an appetizer buffet, live band, a humorous magician, contests and discounted drinks. Tickets for the dance cost $15, down from last year's $20 tickets.
Park Festival/ Car Show
When: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday and Monday
Where: Pioneer Park and Garrett Park
For the first time, the Park Festival will last two days this year. Airey said the festival will remain open during and after the Pioneer Days Parade and will feature a car show Sunday night.
Dearborn Street will be closed both days for the festival.
57th Annual Pioneer Days Parade
When: 9 a.m.Monday
Where: Old Englewood Road to Dearborn Street
The 57th annual Pioneer Days Parade will start at Old Englewood Road and weave its way to Dearborn Street. The parade will feature classic cars, floats and Grand Marshal Jean Berlin.
Dearborn Street will be closed for the parade.
