The Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe will hold auditions for its four-show 2013-14 season from 1-4 p.m. Sept. 7, with callbacks held from 7-10 p.m. the same day.
This season the company will present the musicals "Purlie" (Nov. 13-Dec. 15); "Harry and Lena" (Feb. 19-March 23) and "Bubbling Brown Sugar" (April 9-11) and the drama "The Whipping Man" (Jan. 2-Feb. 2)
No previous experience is required, but all actors should be 18 years of age or all. The company is seeking performers of all ethnicities and races to audition.
Those auditioning for musicals should be prepared with a 16-bar song and a one-minute monologue. The theater will select one additional song. An accompanist will be provided.
"WBTT has discovered wonderful new talent at each of our previous open auditions," said Founder and Artistic Director Nate Jacobs. "Since we hold them at the theater, we are able to attract many local actors who we may or may not be aware of. It’s always a very important and exciting day.”
Auditions will be held at the theater, 1646 10th Way, Sarasota. Actors should register online at wbttsrq.org/about-us/employment. Audition times will be assigned and confirmations will be sent.
