The New Belgium beer has landed!

/

A quick glance at social media outlets for our local watering holes makes one thing clear -- pubs are glad to have gotten their New Belgium shipments in!

Bars around Sarasota and Manatee counties are announcing the beloved brewery's arrival on Facebook, Twitter and the like. Growler's Pub and Mr. Beery's both set up Facebook events to welcome New Belgium tonight, while other Sarasota bars that have announced the arrival of  Fat Tire Amber Ale, Sunshine Wheat, Ranger IPA, Trippel and Shift Pale Lager include Tavern on Main, Shamrock Pub and North Bridge Tavern. (I may have missed a couple; an earlier and more elaborate version of this post was eaten by WordPress.)

World of Beer Sarasota has a few bottles from the brewery's Lips of Faith series in addition to the aforementioned selection. I'm guessing only certain accounts are getting the Lips of Faith beers for now.

In Manatee, The Lost Kangaroo is among the spots where you can get the coveted Colorado beer.

Prices vary a bit by by establishment, but it's looking like 22-ounce bomber will set you back somewhere between $4 and $5. Shift, only available in 12-ounce cans, will cost $2 to $3 at most spots.

New Belgium has a longstanding association with bike culture, and as such, two rides are planned this weekend to welcome the brewery. On Saturday, cyclists will roll out from the Cock 'n' Bull at 6 p.m. for a ride to Nathan Benderson Park and back; on Sunday, Tavern on Main and the Sarasota SmartyPints (full disclosure -- I am a SmartyPints chapter leader) are co-hosting a ride to City Island and back. For that one, we'll meet at 3:30 and roll out at 4 p.m.

Where are you getting your New Belgium fix? Is the brewery worth the hype it's getting? Weigh in below.
