An exhibit of abstract and representational personal landscapes in oil, pastel and acrylic by Sarasota artist Carol Hershberger will be on display Thursday through Sept. 26 at the Women's Resource Center. An opening reception, with music by Tyler Plaster and refreshments, is from 5 to 7 p.m. July 18 at the center, 340 S. Tuttle Ave., Sarasota.
The exhibition is titled "Sky Water Blues: A series of Works Inspired by Three Geographic Locations."
Hershberger grew up on a dairy farm in Ohio. Steeped in Mennonite tradition and ritual, she was deeply influenced by a sense of place. In 1997, she moved to Sarasota to attend Ringling College of Art and Design. She received her B.F.A. in 2003 and has exhibited her work locally at Selby Gallery, Crossley Gallery, Sarasota Art Center and Selby Library. For more information: 366-1700; carolannmiller.com.
