Contest: Name that Florida medical marijuana strain

We won't get into the politics of legalizing medical marijuana in Florida, and we certainly don't have any interest in starting a debate here on Ticket, but as supporters make a big push for a medical marijuana ballot initiative we have one serious question: What will we call our specific Florida strains?

That's an issue that might unite pot-heads and non-smokers. So put your thinking caps on (ours is woven from newspaper dyed green, yellow and black) and come up with the most creative, hilarious or poignant name for some of the strains we could see in dispensaries if Florida goes the way of California, Colorado and 16 other states (plus the District of Columbia).

Not familiar with how it works? Thanks to movies and 1980's cop shows, you might already be familiar with such classic marijuana strains as Acapulco Gold or Maui Wowie, but the number of strains has risen dramatically thanks to the medical marijuana industry, as well as the growth of hobby horticulturalists. (As Dennis Leary once said, "Marijuana isn't a gateway drug to other drugs, it's a gateway drug to carpentry.")

Medicalmarijuanastrains.com lists hundreds of different strains, with names ranging ranging from bland ("Beauty" or "Australian Blue") to evocative ("Purple Passion" or "Sage and Sour"), referential ("Yoda OG Kush" or "Kryptonite") to macabre ("Dr. Grinspoon" or "Deadman"), to just plain odd ("Cheesewreck").

Now's the time to get in on the ground floor of this (potential) growing local industry and start naming strains that will epitomize the Florida medical marijuana experience. Be clever, be funny, but your suggestions have to reference Florida or the Sarasota-Manatee area in some way.

If we get enough entries we'll have an online vote to determine the winner, who will win prizes commensurate with the gravity of the contest. (We already have a can of Pringles, a black-light bulb and a book entitled "Where Am I Eating?" on hand.
