Hundreds of teams are expected to compete again on Siesta Beach as part of the popular Dig the Beach volleyball series, with top professional players battling for thousands of dollars in prize purses. While it costs $70-$100 to participate, the events are free and open to the public.

Back in 2011, Ticket would feature the glory and splendor of local amateur (or semi-professional) video production. This one documents that year's May edition of Dig the Beach tournament, featuring seemingly more still photography than video (which you'll realize is a good once you get to the interviews).

8 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday-Sunday (June 15-16); Siesta Beach, 948 Beach Road, Siesta Key; free; (561) 504-2001; digthebeach.com.
