Pressed Meyers Natural Angus Burger, $9.49
Carmel Café & Wine Bar
8433 Cooper Creek Blvd., Sarasota
893-5955; carmelcafe.com

Carmel Café is a relative newcomer to this area code; it opened last summer across from Lee Roy Selmon's at University Park. Its specialty is modern Mediterranean cuisine (with a glass of wine, of course) in a friendly neighborhood setting.

Not exactly a place to grab a burger, right? Think again. Its Pressed Meyers Natural Angus Burger is a flavorful surprise, and at $9.49 (side order included), it's an affordable lunch or dinner alternative.

It's a handful, though. The juicy angus burger sits on a soft Meyers bun, covered in tasty caramelized onions, Manchego cheese, chili aioli and lettuce and tomato. Both hands are required for this big boy because the burger will slide right out.

The burger comes with a side order - your choice of seasoned fries, seasonal vegetables or Pistachio Apricot Quinoa Couscous.

If you're dining alone, you can amuse yourself with a game of Angry Birds on Carmel's innovative iPad menu.

May is Burger Month here at Ticket and we want to know where you go for beef on a bun. Go to our Burger Month page to see other reviews, read about making your own excellent burgers at home, or tell us about your favorite burger below:
