Roller derby returns

/

Support_Local_Roller_Derby.35882753-500x355You may know them as the Suncoast Quad Squad or the Sarasota Roller Girls, but Sarasota’s own roller derby team has a new name — North River Rolling Renegades — and a date with destiny: this Saturday. The rough-and-ready lasses will compete on the polished wood of Stardust Skate Center against the Lakeland Derby Dames. Bring a chair for track-side seating (but only if you are 18 years old or older — it can be dangerous that close to the action). Otherwise, it’s an exciting and potentially violent night of fun for the whole family!

6 p.m. Saturday; Stardust Skate Center, 2571 12th St., Sarasota; $12 (children 8 and under free); 365-6888, northriverrollingrenegades.com.
