Made stands for “Modern American Delicious Eats.” Basically, the restaurant that opened in March in the former home of Brasserie Belge on Main Street serves fancy versions of domestic comfort foods. So they better server burgers, right? Actually, Made only offers a single burger, called “Burger,” but it’s a delicious doozy.

I ordered mine medium and the thick beef patty came out perfectly pink with a crispy exterior; covered with a tasty and tender dollop of pork barbacoa. The toppings were a smart collection of barbecued peppers and onions smothered in pepper jack cheese. Underneath the patty, the flavor roller coaster continued with a thick, juicy fried heirloom tomato and bit of butter lettuce. Grabbing the toasted buns and shoving all that scrumptious stuff in my mouth without attracting too much attention from passersby proved a bit problematic, but any mess or embarrassment caused by the superbly designed and executed Burger was well worth it.

The Burger only comes with one side but you shouldn’t complain about the “cheese tots.” They’re pretty much mashed potatoes and cheddar covered in bread crumbs and deep fried served with homemade malt mayo, which is great if you’re feeling vinegary. But I recommend requesting a little tank of homemade ketchup for your tot dipping.
