Bijou Cafe (1287 First St., Sarasota, 366-8111, bijoucafe.net) will accent its regular menu with some chef’s specials on Mother’s Day, including cream of forest mushroom soup, shrim & crab bisque, pan-roasted striped bass, rack of lamb, oven-roasted lobster tail and homemade chocolate-hazelnut tart, among other dishes.

Ziti (3501 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, 706-1281, zitisarasota.com), the upscale-casual restaurant at Southgate Plaza, is introducing a new on-going Sunday brunch on Mother’s Day. “Our new Sunday brunch includes several brunch favorites as well as a few classic and signature luncheon dishes from our lunch menu and a complimentary Mimosa with every entrée purchase,” said Ziti owner Dustin Guimond.
The brunch (which is served, not a buffet) includes Eggs Benedict, French toast, Quiche Lorraine or steak and eggs accompanied by fresh mini fruit muffins. Chef Daryl Davis also offers an Ahi-tuna BLT, the house burger, assorted flatbreads, Asian salads and specialty pasta dishes. Entrees range from $10 to $14.
Ziti serves Sunday brunch from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with dinner options until 8 p.m.; regular menu daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Happy Hour daily from 4 to 7 p.m.

Half Shell Oyster House (1990 Main St., Sarasota, 952-9400, halfshelloysterhouse.com) will celebrate Mother’s Day all weekend with a special meal of Filet and Lobster Mornay – a filet medallion served over a bed of parmesan matchstick potatoes topped with succulent lobster meat and Mornay sauce. Served with a salad and choice of side.

Café L’Europe (431 St. Armands Circle, Sarasota, 388-4415, cafeleurope.net) will celebrate Mother’s Day with a special buffet brunch and lobster dinner. Brunch ($39.95 adults, $16.95 children under 12) will be a gourmet buffet with a complimentary mimosa and include waffle, omelet and carving stations, eggs Benedict, oyster Rockefeller, homemade desserts and more.
The restaurant’s special dinner features blue lump crab-stuffed half Maine lobster for only $39.95, along with Cafe L’Europe’s regular menu.

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar (2001 Siesta Drive, Sarasota, 358-9463, flemingssteakhouse.com) will offer a three-course brunch on Mother’s Day, May 12. Besides the brunch, Mom will receive a $25 dining card for a future visit. The $36.95 brunch ($17.95 for children under 12) begins with a choice of appetizer, including lobster bisque, Caesar salad or seasonal fruit, followed by entrees like prime rib with a trio of sauces or baked brioche French toast with a walnut crisp, plus others. The brunch will take place from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. For dessert, there is a white chocolate bread pudding.
Fleming’s will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., as well as its usual dining hours.

Libby’s Café + Bar (1917 Osprey Ave., Sarasota, 487-7300, libbyscafebar.com) will host a Mother’s Day Buffet Brunch from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., offering diners of all ages creative fare that showcases tradition with a twist. The $35 brunch ($14 for kids under 12) includes carving, bagel and omelette stations, plus such popular breakfast items as spinach and cheddar quiche, bacon and sausage, blueberry pancakes, salads, country fried chicken and grouper fingers, to name a few. Among decadent desserts are Kim’s cupcakes, chocolate truffle cake and mini pastries. The Bloody Mary and Mimosa Bar provides more than 50 items including organic vodkas, pickled and fresh fruit and condiments.
Brunch will be served from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., followed by regular dining.

The Ritz-Carlton (1111 Ritz-Carlton Dr., Sarasota, 309-2000, ritzcarlton.com) will host a decadent Mother’s Day Brunch for $119 ($49 for children 12 and under) featuring stations devoted to salads, ceviche, carpaccio, seafood, pastries and much more, as well as eggs and serious entrees like butternut squash gnocchi or braised short ribs.

Michael’s On East (1212 East Ave., Sarasota, 366-0007, bestfood.com) will hold a brunch buffet on Mother’s Day featuring crab cakes, omelet and carving stations and much more. The restaurant will also have a special menu for dinner.

Selby Gardens will host a Mother’s Day brunch in a tropical setting, catered by Michael’s On East and featuring the contemporary Brazilian jazz of 2Saxy. Tickets are $48 (non-members), $38 (members) or $18 (children 4-11), and there are three seatings. Go to selby.org for more information.
