Audiences have been getting to know the music of Andrew Lippa over the years, with shows that include the off-Broadway hit “The Wild Party” and the Broadway version of “The Addams Family.”
But he got his start with the off-Broadway musical “John & Jen,” which is now running in a new production at the freeFall Theatre in St. Petersburg.
It’s about a woman and the two Johns in her life, set against a backdrop of major societal changes from 1952 to 1990.
In the first act, Chris Crawford plays her young brother, John, and in the second act, he plays her son, also named John.
Artistic director and founder Eric Davis stages the musical, which continues through May 26 at the theater, 6099 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. Tickets are $36-$46. For more information: (727) 498-5205; freefalltheatre.com
