Tropical Heatwave time again

/

Tropical_Heatwave_2013For more than three decades, Tampa-based community radio station WMNF (88.5) has been throwing Tropical Heatwave, one of the best and most eclectic music festivals in Florida.

This year's two-day edition features more than 70 artists spread across 10 stages in and around the Cuban Club in Ybor City.

Headlining national acts include roots-rocking singer-songwriter Paul Thorn (interviewed here last month), alt-country couple Kelly Willis and Bruce Robison and blues supergoup Southern Hospitality, led by Bradenton Beach resident Damon Fowler (recently interviewed for this Ticket cover story).

The Sarasota-Bradenton scene is also being repped by folk/bluegrass act Passerine, blues man Sarasota Slim and ukelele folk-funk outfit The Applebutter Express, which played Bonnaroo last year.

Complete schedule/band description.
