Hob Nob is one of those places that always crops up in discussions of the area's best burgers, and for good reason. This Sarasota restaurant has over 50 years of practice with diner-style burgers -- featuring thin patties that aren't big enough to cook anything but well done. The key to Hob Nob's burger success is plenty of salt on the meat and enough heat to create a thin layer of crust on the surface. The beef doesn't exactly shine in this style of burger, but it does add in plenty of seasoning and texture.

Throw on crisp lettuce, thick slices of tomato, multiple layers of processed cheese, ketchup, mayo and mustard and you have an American tradition between two halves of a doughy white bun, the kind of burger that reminds you of backyards as a kid and your earliest experiences with the drive-through. It's a great formula and few local spots do it better than Hob Nob, not to mention onion rings that may be the best in town.

May is Burger Month here at Ticket and we want to know where you go for beef on a bun. Go to our Burger Month page to see other reviews, read about making your own excellent burgers at home, or tell us about your favorite burger below -
