We're fast approaching the one day every year when mothers are given their due, when children scramble to show just how much they appreciate the decades of nurturing and support that went into making them the people they are today.

You could make her a piece of macaroni art, buy her jewelry or doodads, or brave the packed restaurants for a nice meal with your mom, but why not broadcast your love to the world at large?

We want you to tell us a story about your mom that reveals a little bit about her character, shows the impact of your relationship with her, or is just plain funny. The trick is, we want it to be 140 character or less, standard Twitter length. It will take some thought and brevity to distill things down to that short length, but you can do it.  And give us a photo of her, while you're at it.

You can use the form below to submit your story and picture, but if you use Twitter or Facebook, we'd prefer you do it there. On Twitter, just use the #htmom hashtag so we can find it. On Facebook, just post it on the Ticket page.

We'll post all of the responses and pictures we get online, tweet them out to our followers, and some may will find their way into the pages of the Herald-Tribune.

Do it for your mom. She deserves it.

Tell us a story about your mom!
