Things heated up in Tampa's Hyde Park Village last night when one of Hollywood's biggest stars showed up.

Ante Novakovic, director/writer of "The Fix," and surprise guest, Colin Farrell were on the red carpet at Gasparilla International Film Festival.

Farrell, the star of such films as "Phone Booth, "Minority Report" and the recent "Total Recall" remake, came to support his friend’s short film, which had its Florida premiere on Thursday at the Tampa festival and features Armand Assante.

Assante can also be seen in "Blind Pass." The most high-profile Sarasota film completed in the past year, it will be shown  at 5:40 p.m. today in the Muvico Centro Ybor, the same theater where all the Sarasota-made movies will be screened this weekend at the Tampa festival.
