Conservatory students present holiday performance


Students of the Sarasota Ballet's new Margaret Barbieri Conservatory of Dance will present their first stand-alone program, "Holiday Variations," at 2 p.m. this afternoon at the Glenridge Performing Arts Center, 7333 Scotland Way.

The conservatory, named after Artistic Director Iain Webb's wife, a former principal dancer with the Royal Ballet of London, is an eight-year program created this fall to offer aspiring ballet students full-time immersion in their art form, while continuing their academic  studies.

Twelve students are currently enrolled, ages 11 to 16; they will spend betw3een two and five years in the program.
