Oktoberfest in Munich ends this weekend, but here in the United States, events are just getting started. Here's two for Saturday.

Darwin's on 4th Oktoberfest

Downtown Sarasota brewpub Darwin's on 4th (1525 4th St., 343-2165) will be celebrating Oktoberfest from 5 p.m. to midnight. Brewmaster Jared Barnes will tap his own Oktoberfest beer in the outside beer garden, and it's on special at $4 a pint all night. Darwin's website also says they will be serving brews from fellow craft brewers Little Giant in Bradenton and the  Sarasota Brewing Co. (SBC brewmaster Vincent Pelosi posted on Facebook that a scheduling conflict will prevent them from attending.) Chef Darwin Santa Maria will be cooking up some special victuals as well.

Two bands, State Road 64 and Lauren Mitchell Band, will be playing.

Myakka Outpost Croctoberfest

Head to the Myakka Outpost inside Myakka River State Park (13208 State Road 72, 361-6511) for the second Croctoberfest from noon to 7 p.m. My wife, the Beer Widow, and I went last year and had a fun time. There will be a bunch of craft beer, German food and live music. Park admission is $4-$6 per vehicle, beer and food items range from $1 to $6 each.
