Dean Johanesen is at it again. With several “songwriters in the round” and open-mic appearances plus multiple solo, duo (Duende) and band (The Human Condition) gigs every month, it's questionable that this tireless Sarasota singer/songwriter and music supporter ever gets any sleep. Case in point: on top of the other obligations, The Human Condition and Johanesen have put together a brand new original music showcase. Slated for every other month in the backyard-feelin' Cock & Bull courtyard/fire pit on the third Friday (future dates: Sept. 21 and Nov. 16), the plan is to expose artists from all over the region — and those closer to home — to the public, and vice versa.
First up: Sarasota-based acts Sara Nelms, a country vocalist/composer who’d lived and performed in Nashville,Tenn. for awhile, together with The Heart Machine trio and five-piece The Human Condition each sharing unique versions of thoughtful, memorable indie rock.
