Have you ever watched a flashmob and thought, "I sure wish I could do that"? If so, now's your chance.
Moving Ethos, which last year organized a series of beach flashmobs, is back at it again, and anyone and everyone is invited to join in. They'll be holding an "audition" this Saturday, May 5, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Studio 20 in downtown Sarasota (20 Lemon Ave.) -- but don't let the word "audition" scare you. This is about showing up and learning the steps to the best of your ability, not any inherent talent you might possess.
Moving Ethos did a series of beach dances last summer, on Lido and Siesta Keys when about 30 people participated. This year, co-founders Courtney Smith Inzalaco and Leah Verier-Dunn are on a mission to expand participation and increase the group's diversity. So whether you are 8 or 80, agile or handicapped, standing or sitting, you're welcome to join in the fun, even if you can't leave a chair to do so.
There will be a number of required rehearsals. Flashmob dates are scheduled for June 29 and 30 and July 1.
