Liquid Love: Libby's Pomegranate Basil Martini

Specks of green herbs float atop a tiny pink pool in this pretty Pomegranate Basil martini at Libby’s Café + Bar in Sarasota. For $6 during happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. daily, relish this femme libation while noshing on Heritage Meatballs with whipped ricotta or barbecued pork macaroni and cheese. Still chilling? Indulge in the muddled strawberry or ginger and cucumber martinis, too.

INGREDIENTS

2 fresh basil leaves

2 fresh mint leaves

1 tbsp simple syrup (sugar and water)

1.5 ounces pomegranate vodka

½ ounce pomegranate liqueur

Splash of cranberry juice

MIXOLOGY

Muddle the herbs with the simple syrup. In a shaker with ice, combine the basil, mint, vodka, pomegranate liqueur and cranberry juice. Strain the mixture into a tall, thin Tom Collins-style or martini glass, and top with champagne or sparkling wine.
