Thanksgiving dining: Eat-in or take-out turkey day treats

It’s time to start thinking about the biggest food holiday of the year, whether you’re planning on cooking at home or taking advantage of the many restaurants around the area offering no-fuss feasts. Either way, you need to plan ahead. Here are a few of the local restaurants offering special meals on Thanksgiving:

Michael’s On East (1212 East Ave. S., Sarasota, 366-0007, michaelsoneast.com) is offering two Thanksgiving options, from 2-8 p.m.: a traditional meal with all the fixings for $28.95, or a la carte dining off a special holiday menu.

Café L' Europe (431 St. Armands Circle, St. Armands, 388-4415) will be open from 12-8 p.m. on Thanksgiving with a traditional three-course turkey dinner for $34.95. A la carte dinner menu available. Whole turkey packages to-go are available for $139.95 for 6-8 people, and for $189.95 for 10-12 people, including free Thanksgiving delivery to select areas.

Veg, A Vegetarian & Seafood Eatery (2164 Gulf Gate Drive, Sarasota, 312-6242, vegsrq.com) will offer a variety of vegetarian and vegan items available to-go for Thanksgiving, including Curried Root Vegetable Soup; Roasted Butternut Squash Stuffed with Quinoa, Wild Rice, Apricots & Craisins; and Maple-Glazed Tofurkey with Stuffing and Apple Roasted Vegetables. Harry’s Continental Kitchens (5600 Gulf of Mexico Drive, Longboat Key, 383-0777, harryskitchen.com) will offer a traditional Thanksgiving three-course dinner from 2-8 p.m. for $31.95 per person ($43.95 per person with premium wine pairings). Harry’s Deli will have take-out meals featuring all the standards for $21.95 per person (must be ordered by Nov. 20 and picked up on Nov. 23).

Clayton’s Siesta Grille and Catering by Clayton (1256 Old Stickney Point Road, Siesta Key, 349-2800, claytonssiestagrille.com) will prepare roasted free-range turkeys with dried cranberry walnut stuffing, mashed potatoes, sausage gravy, roasted squash, cranberry sauce and green beans for Thanksgiving. Dine in for $21.95 per person ($12.95 for kids), or delivery for $79 for 4-6 people and $159 for 8-10 people. Pies are also available.

Libby’s Cafe + Bar (1917 Osprey Ave., Sarasota, 487-7300, libbyscafebar.com) will offer a Thanksgiving Special Dinner Plate ($30 adult/$12 children) on Thanksgiving day, from 11 a.m.-9 p.m., including, a bonus: Everyone will be given a “brown bag” of turkey to go, for day-after turkey sandwiches. A la carte menu available.

Columbia Restaurant (411 St. Armands Circle, Sarasota, 388-3987, columbiarestaurant.com) will serve a traditional Thanksgiving meal starting at 11 a.m., accented by its trademark Spanish bean, black bean or gazpacho soups. It’s $19.95 for adults and $5.95 for children under 10, and the usual dinner menu is also available all day.

Polo Grill and Bar (10670 Boardwalk Loop, Lakewood Ranch, 782-0899, pologrillandbar.com) will host a buffet from noon to 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. It will include the usual turkey day standards, along with a variety of cooking stations and dishes from around the world. The price is $32.95 for adults, $14.95 for children aged 5-12, with children 4 and under free.

All Mattison’s (mattisons.com) restaurants are offering a traditional Thanksgiving feast for $28 for adults and $14 for children 12 and under. You can also order from the usual menu. If you want to dine in, Mattison’s Forty-One (7275 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, 921-3400, mattisons.com) is taking orders for a Feast-To-Go with all the fixin’s that can be picked up on Thanksgiving morning. The cost is $85 for a feast for four people. Place orders by Sunday, Nov. 20.

From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, Pier 22 (1200 1st Ave. W., Bradenton, 748-8087, pier22dining.com) will host a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. The cost is $24.95 for adults and $12.95 for children 12 and under. The restaurant’s usual menu will also be available. Pier 22 also offers a Take Home Thanksgiving Dinner that costs $75 for four or $145 for eight. Place orders by Nov. 20, for pick-up on Thanksgiving Day.
