Arts Alliance hosts Sarasota Commission forum

Candidates for Sarasota City Commission seats are being invited to take part in a forum hosted by the Arts and Cultural Alliance of Sarasota from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tues. Feb. 8 at Holley Hall.

"This is our opportunity to let our elected officials know that we want them to support and promote arts and culture as a vital foundation of our community," said Jim Shirley, executive of the alliance (formerly known as the Sarasota County Arts Council.

The event is free and open to the public. Candidates will be given time to share their views on the role of arts and culture in Sarasota, and the public will be given time to ask questions of the candidates.

Holley Hall is in the Beatrice Friedman Symphony Center, 709 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.
