Extreme beers on tap at The Shamrock

/

Derek Anderson with The Shamrock pub at 2257 Ringling Blvd. in Sarasota e-mailed me that his pub tapped a keg of Dogfish Head's World Wide Stout, which at 18 percent alcohol is one of the strongest beers in the world. It's also one of the most expensive: a 12-ounce bottle is about $10 retail.

I last had this beer in 2005. From my BeerAdvocate review:

"Wow. A massive alcohol flavor is followed by a subtle roasted malt and syrupy taste. There's a great fiery aftertaste that burns in my mouth and belly. This is as far from a session beer as they get. I bet it will take me an hour to drink this 12-ounce bottle. You could almost call this stout-flavored booze."

Anderson also wrote that the pub will be getting a keg of Bell's Hopslam. He'll let me know when they tap it.

WWS on draft! Yay! The CnB got it, but it was gone before I could get in there.

They have also recently had, and may still, Avery's The Beast and the admittedly less-extreme, but still delicious, Oskar Blues Ten Fidy on draft.
